Marg - I've never come across a Bourton in Berkshire but I've just had a look on google maps and there is (what looks like) an area called Bourton 8.something miles from Chiseldon which comes up as in the Vale of the White Horse District - looks to be near Shrivenham which used to be Berkshire I think.

How about this one, Marg?
http://www.visionofbritain.org.uk/pl....jsp?p_id=3591 I put Bourton, Berkshire into a Google image search and that was the first thing that came up. EDIT: Now I've found one website saying that "Until 1860, all baptisms, marriage and burials for Bourton, Berkshire were in Shrivenham Parish." http://www.bastonfamily.co.uk/williambaston/wmbg09.htm Last edited by Janet; 10-03-12 at 04:10. |

Janet's correct. When in doubt, I consult Genuki, which states:
Bourton Tything in the parish of Shrivenham http://www.berksfhs.org.uk/genuki/BR...ham/index.html "BOURTON, a tything in the parish and hundred of Shrivenham, in the county of Berks, 7 miles to the S.W. of Farringdon, and 6 from Swindon. The Great Western railway passes by it, and the Wilts and Berks canal has several wharfs here. There is a chapel of ease, built by Archdeacon Berens; also a Baptist chapel, built and supported by the great silk manufacturers, Messrs. Baker and Tucker, who, in 1842, likewise presented to the inhabitants a neat Gothic structure for a school, which is well attended, and several almshouses." |

She might not have left a will, but if you want to find possible wills for Wiltshire this is very useful:
