Doesn't it say Mason, Morf, if I'm looking at the same one you are (attached screenshot below)?

And is this the same man on the 1851? This says Mason's labourer:

http://search.ancestry.co.uk/iexec?h...c=&pid=7834533

The Thomas Dix in Cheltenham on the 1851 is with an Elizabeth. There was a Frances with the Thomas Dix on the 1841, but he's 38 and she's 50, and there's the younger Thomas Dix who is 13, so wonder if Frances might not be his wife. (Or they might not be the same Thomas Dix? Or he remarried.)

Yes, you are correct Janet, it is mason, thank you.
It could be the same Thomas in 1851, Frances may have died.
I have his son's birth certificate and Frances is the mother.

Just noticed he couldn't have remarried unless Elizabeth was his step daughter.

The 1841 census has a Thomas Dix age 30 in Cheltenham, born in county, with wife Elizabeth age 28, dress maker, and daughter Eliza Ann age 7. Thomas's occupation is Green Grocer and the wife and daughter are born in county, but I should think they must be the same family as in that 1851 census entry and so it is not your Thomas in 1851.

Yes, I think you're correct there Kite, it does look like the same family as 1851.
