Name Change: I'm not sure why Selina Anne changed her name to Florence Selina. It first appears on her marriage (although the vicar has recorded it as Florence Selaine) and she then consistently uses Florence.
It took me an age to find her birth after getting a name from certificates and I eventually narrowed the GRO down to one possibility and fortunately it all points to her being born as Selina Anne (matching father with not very common occupation, matching addresses on certificates). She was a headache for a long time though.

There are no Selina Fenton deaths listed on Ancestry at all. There is a Florence S Fenton in 1936, Camberwell. Mar qtr 1d 963.
She is aged 70 so the age is slightly out.

Margaret - THANK YOU!!!

After I posted it I went to check if I'd actually looked since ancestry put the index up and I spotted that one too. Just ordering it now.

Glad it's the right one, there don't seem to be any other possibilities.

I'm hoping it is. The family (well her children) went up to Barnet just before WWI so that's the only bit that's niggling.

Praying she didn't decide to change her name again. GRO is estimating despatch on 18th February so I may be able to update before the next TO2G kicks in

New to the forum, but it was great to find this information about my great-great-aunt Selina, whose line our family has yet to investigate having been concentrating on the siblings of later generations, so the change of name should help us in the future.

My family have managed to identify her grandparents (Thomas and Hannah née Hawley who share my own wedding date) and great grandparents (William and Mary née Deakin) who lived in the Birmingham area, from where her parents moved to London around 1848/9.
