Default Rachel Phillips abt 1830-before 1891

Another Welsh woman - they are soooo hard to track down!

I haven't got Rachel's birth, baptism or death. I don't know her mother's name or if she had any siblings.

Rachel Phillips was born Morriston, Aberdare or Swansea depending on which census you look at, abt 1831. According to her marriage cert 1854, her father was Thomas Phillips, an ostler, but I haven't been able to definitely find Rachel or Thomas in 1841 or 1851.

Marriage
12 Oct 1854 at Carmel Chapel, Aberdare, Glamorgan, Wales
Evan Jones, 22, blacksmith, father William Jones, engineer
Rachel Phillips, 24, servant, both living in Aberdare

1861
8 Railway Row, Robertston, Aberdare, Glamorgan
Evan Jones 30 blacksmith b. Aberdare
Rachel Jones wife b. Morriston, Glam
Thomas Jones son 2 b Aberdare
Mary Ann Jones daur 1 month b Aberdare

1871
Wellington Street, Aberdare
Evan Jones 41 smith b Aberdare
Rachel Jones 41 wife b Aberdare [sic]
Thomas Jones 13 son b Aberdare
Miriam Jones 10 daur b Aberdare
Margaret Jones 7 son b Aberdare
William Jones 3 son b Aberdare
William Jones 69 lodger [Evan's father] b Aberdare

1881
5 Cynon Side, Aberdare
Evan Jones 51 b Aberdare blacksmith
Rachel Jones wife 53 b Swansea
Thomas Jones son 22 blacksmith b Aberdare
Mary Jones 20 daur housemaid b Aberdare
Margaret Jones daur 17 dressmaker b Aberdare
William Jones son 12 scholar b Aberdare

Death:
In 1891 Evan is a widower, lodging at 14 Dare Street, Aberdare, so Rachel was dead by then - though there are lots of Rachel Jones in the death indexes!
