Default (32) William Ernest Randall, Pte 2946 Royal Sussex Regt then 6117 2/6 Bn Royal Warks

The 32nd of St Wilfrid's Old Boys to die in WW1.

William was born on 14 Oct 1892 to William Randall, a bricklayer and Thirza his wife. He was christened at St Wilfrid’s on 11 December 1892. On the 1901 census they lived in St John’s Road, Haywards Heath though at that time it was part of Wivelsfield parish.

Before enlisting William worked as a grocer’s porter. He was killed in action on 19 Jul 1916 aged 23 and is buried at Aubers Ridge British Cemetery grave III F 13.

His mother Thirza was sent his effects of £3 1s 1d on 30 October 19196 and a War Gratuity of £7 10s on 7th September 1919.
