Default John Jarvis

John Jarvis married Susanna Waller 30 October 1786 at Cley, Norfolk.

He remained in Cley till 1796, when the family was in Blakeney.

There is a gravestone in Blakeney churchyard commemorating his wife, who died in 1826 and two of their children who died in infancy.

He possibly was buried 11 April 1838 in Blakeney, aged 79. I have the death certificate, which describes this John as a porter. The informant was not a family member.

There is no gravestone to John or any will.

When he married, John Jarvis, who was illiterate, was shown as a single man of Blakeney.

His children were Mary (bp a fortnight after the wedding), William, Richard, Matthew, Hannah, Susan and three Johns.

His in-laws were William and Hannah.

There is a John Jarvis bp 7 Feb 1750/1 in Blakeney, son of Matthew and Sarah. They were married in Holt.

I suspect John was actually the son of Richard Jarvis and Alice nee Fisher. They married in Cley in 1753 but came from Bayfield. They had children Ann 1754, Wiveton, Mary 1755, Blakeney and Matthew & William in Field Dalling from 1765. John would fit neatly into that ten year gap.
