Default Mary Gale's Burial

On 8th Feb 1790 Robert and Ann Gale baptise their daughter Mary in Woodmansterne, Surrey

On 12th Feb 1791, Robert and Ann Gale baptise another daughter - Mary Ann also in Woodmansterne, Surrey.

Reasonable then to assume that the first Mary died before February 1791, and indeed there is a burial in Woodmansterne on May 4th 1790 for Mary Gale ........ Neugent.

Neugent??? lol! What on earth?? I have no idea what this means.
As a name, it is uncommon in Surrey, has no connection with the family and when it does appear, it is spelt "Nugent" without the first "e".

I am wondering if it has some other meaning, but having rummaged through a Latin dictionary, I can find nothing useful.

Anyone have any ideas?
