lol Phoenix.
Thanks for reminding me about the area, it made me look up my book, now I have it out I shall read it properly .. Half of the book is natural history, but the other half is a fascinating glimpse into the past with old letters etc. The Reverend knew more than his sermons it seems.
The book "The History of Harting" refers to South Harting and was originally Hertyng.
When I was in Petersfield I went to the hairdressers and afterwards my hair was so soft I was amazed, then afterwards I realised that it was all the chalk in the water.. Not like our hard usually treated water.
