However: OH's 3xgt grandfather Charles Lamb born in Huntingdon married in Halesowen, Worcs. 2 children born in Birmingham settled in Whitby, where rest of his children were born died on a trip to London So if I were looking for him from scratch, I'd only find his birth in Huntingdon! |

Well yes, I agree, I have people marrying (or whatever) out of area, but I would worry this Birmingham marriage was just the only one showing online, but Essex has poor coverage generally, so how would anyone know this was the right marriage?

Let's hope they put more Essex records on line.
I know very little about Essex as I have no family there, except people in what is now outer London. I suppose it is just a matter of noting what you find, and hoping that you find more evidence in future. I have done this lots of times, and then something pops up to help you, if you are lucky. |

Thanks Elizabeth.............I must go to that site...I seem to use the record sire only.
In 1841 both William and Mary are born in the county (Essex). I'm thinking someone has found that William/Mary marriage and assumed it is ours. My line is through their son James. James married 1849 to Eliza Tunbridge and I can't find either William or Mary in 1851. The youngest child in 1841 is aged 8 so too early to get a cert. William's line is Essex all the way and they were ag labs, unlike OH's lot who could afford to travel anywhere for a bride.....lol

A lot of Essex stuff isn't online yet, so I suspect that Birmingham marriage isn't the right one, and an Essex marriage will turn up one day. Especially as there are baptisms for children of William and Mary Ketley at St Philip's Birmingham in 1822.
