I've looked over 20 years and couldn't see any more.

Births Mar 1852
Bridge Betsey Bolton 8c 216

This is the reference for Betsy's birth. Even if her parents weren't married, the cert would give a mmn for Mary, so a chance to find her in 1841.

Betsey Bridge 1852 Bolton mmn KIRKHAM

(Abraham Bridge m Ellen Kirkham Bury St Mary 1841)

OR:

Betsey Bridge b 1852 Bury mmn NUTTALL

Cannot see a Nuttall/Bridge marriage though.

That Betsey with parents Abraham and Ellen is a different one from the one we're looking for (obviously).

This is starting to get oddly complicated!

Phoenix gave a ref above

Betsey Bridge, Bolton 8c 216.

There is ANOTHER entry, Bolton 8c 206, which one assumes is the same entry miskeyed. Can we safely assume that though?

But there is no entry on Freebmd for Betsey Bridge born BURY district, mmn Nuttall, as per Lancsbmd.

Bury isn't Bolton, so there is yet another possibility - that Betsey's birth was not registered.

Births Mar 1852
Bridge Betsey Bolton 8c 206
Bridge Betsey Bolton 8c 216

There should only be one entry above (216 is correct and 206 is a mispost)

Births Dec 1852
Bridge Betsy Bury 8c 334
Bridge Betty Bury 8c 313

These two are correct.

I agree that it looks as if the registered Bolton birth is Abraham's daughter and the other Bury one is the wrong place. So Zoe's Betsy wasn't registered?

BRIDGE Betsey Bury South Bury NUTTALL BS/14/60
BRIDGE Betsey Tonge with Haulgh Bolton KIRKMAN TWH/7/340
BRIDGE Betty Walmersley Bury ROBINSON WAL/6/5

All from Lancsbmd site (1852)

These match up nicely with Merry's list.

We can discount the KIRKHAM one in Bolton, so it is looking as if our Betsy's birth wasn't registered.
