It's great news that you've found the right parents' names and the baptism, Maggie.

Yes I had a contact from someone in Australia that set me on another trail and realised that two William Walkers died in pit accidents that year in Dalry but looking at both of them again I realised I had chosen the wrong one the clue was in the informant and that the date was 3 days after his wife had married again!!!!

I was obviously not paying attention considering the amount of time I had studied that death certificate and I didn't spot that.

I tracked the wrong William Walker's marriage to a Jane Logan (informant on his death James Logan brother in law) still no idea where this chap's baptism is but it is the wrong William.

The right one had a James Gemmell as informant of death and after tracking down the children of Robert Walker and Ann Skelton he is actually the husband of William's neice Ann.

Sorry I sent you off in the wrong direction but that shows you really do need to pay attention at all times.

... and just to make sure after much searching I have now found the other William Walker on the 1851 census and can you believe his mother is Jean/Jane Adam who actually married a James Barr so this William must have been illegitimate like I thought. I found all this because James his half brother is living with William and his wife Jane/Jean in Dalry. No idea what happen to John Walker his father but it is likely that it was indeed the school teacher that you found Kiterunner.
