Default Alexander Armstrong FFMFF

Another with not much known...

Supposed to be born 1784.

Died 14th Oct 1867 Mosburnford, Scotland.

Married Margaret Brown (probably)

Son Adam Armstrong born 1823ish, Scotland.

Presumably Mosburnford is Mossburn Ford, Roxburghshire. Have you got his death certificate? It should give details of his parents and his marriages, assuming the informant knew the information.

Okay, this may not be very accurate as it is from ancestry's transcriptions, and you would need to check the images on Scotland's People, but apparently the 1841, 1851 and 1861 censuses say he was born in England. Occupation is Ag Lab on the 1841 and Shepherd on the 1851 and 1861. Daughter Magdaline is supposed to be born in England and is age 42 in 1861, son Adam born Carleton or Castleton Roxburghshire and is age 18 in 1841. So it looks as though Alexander moved up to Scotland between 1818 and 1823. But his wife Margaret was born in Scotland so maybe she is his second wife and Magdaline had a different mother?
