BLIMEY Morf, that gave me a shock

I have a John Flynn (c 1828) and for a daft moment imagined it might be the same one ..... erm .... suspect there could be a few more of them !

His age on the 1861 census is 32, so that would make him born about 1828-29.

Rachel, wouldn't it be great if it were the same John, we could hunt for him together. lol
Kate, I've looked for him with various birth dates, but failed to find him.

Absolutely but mine married Lavinia Simms/Sims and I've no idea where he was born ~ he just says IRELAND !

The marriage cert (and IGI) say his father is Thomas Flinn. The end I think

Daft question but I s'pose you've ruled out this one ?

Luckily I looked at the link soon after Rachel posted it:

Marriages Jun 1851

David Anne Cardiff 26 697
Flin John Cardiff 26 697
Hopkins Mary Cardiff 26 697
Jones Anne Cardiff 26 697
Jones Jenkin Cardiff 26 697
Llewelyn George Cardiff 26 697
Thomas Howell Cardiff 26 697

Looks good, don't you think?

It does, but I found a Mary and John Flynn in Cardiff in the 1891 census, but both were born in Ireland.
I've often toyed with the idea that it might be them and Mary's birthplace was wrongly transcribed.
And my Mary was Mary Hopkin.

Might be worth getting that marriage certificate anyway, just in case it turns out to be the right one. If you've got some money to spare!
