Default Help! Farnham/Reed

Hi im Darren Reed from norfolk,uk curently looking lor npe, adoption, name change. My only big y dna match is a Farnham from Usa. A descendant of Ralph Farnham who migrated from uk to ua on board the ship the james in 1635. https://www.familytreedna.com/groups/farnham
Tryin g to find where name change occured possibly circa 1600s or earlier as my match and i dont match anywhere at autosomal level. I can on trace my Reed line to 1668 in the Burnham areas of norfolk,uk then i struggle .the Farnham lines are fairy well documented by various sources. There was possibly cousin of Ralph Farnham in cambridgeshire area of uk .thisbein the closest to norfolk .but unable to find clues.
Any help gratefully recieved

Hi Darren, welcome to the boards.

Have you done autosomnal tests, or just Y DNA?

Given the number of airbases there were in East Anglia in WW2, is it possible that your ancestors include an American airman?

Autosomnal tests for those in the UK don't necessarily produce large numbers of close matches, but they do help.

Do I take it that you and/or your father are only sons, so there aren't many known close relatives to compare your results with?

Scrub most of that because I didn't read your message properly

Your tree seems to be valid, but either you or your Y DNA match have suffered either an NPE or a name change?

Do you have matches with other Reed or Farnham researchers?

Hiya Darren - and a Warm Welcome to G.F
have you heard of the name Robin Garza - this is his tree - with a lot of notes - and his address in Austin ,USA
Says Ralph was born 1601 in Leicestershire - his first born was in Southampton ,Hampshire - the next 2 in Rochester Kent - the rest in Massachusetts - can't see any connection with a cousin in Cambridge ?? - his 2 Uncles died in Leicester ...that is of course if that tree is correct - which many aren't

https://gw.geneanet.org/robinrdms?n=farnham&oc=&p=ralph

ADDED- you have stated Burnham ,Norfolk - should that be Barnham ??

Allan, there are several villages in Norfolk called Burnham something, e.g. Burnham Deepdale, Burnham Norton, etc.
