Default John Nation FMMF

Here goes...............

John Nation born about 1820 (He gives his age as 36 on a 1856 cert). According to his childrens' birth certs, he was born "Somersetshire" England.

Came to Australia sometime.......

He gives his marriage as 14th Oct 1841, St James Church, Sydney Australia to Phoebe Martin. I've never found this marriage and Phoebe was already married to Benjamin Mepham in England 1835. Mr Mepham did not die until 1883 in Sydney.

John Nation and Phoebe had 7 children. Their 6th child was my great grandmother, Amelia MEPHAM Nation????????

John Nation died in 1859. The informant on his death cert was his stepson (Phoebe's son) Benjamin MEPHAM.

Bet everyone's sorry this thread started............lol

Presumably Benjamin Mepham didn't give the names of John's parents on the death cert?

No names for parents on the death cert.

Wendy.............there's a few trees on Ancestry with the same date but nobody can verify it. Well, none of those I've contacted. I'll contact the others. Nobody has a marriage cert either. I think they've taken the marriage from his daughter's birth cert. On the same cert of 1856 John gives his age as 36. I know that's often wrong.......

There is a baptism for a John Nation in Somerset in 1820 but I can't prove any connection.
