Is Maria the one baptised 12 Jun 1814 Stockport, or Mill Brow Independent, Marple Bridge, Derbyshire, in the Non-Conformist Record Indexes? And does her baptism or marriage certificate state Robert's occupation?

Other baptisms on FamilySearch with parents Robert and Hannah:
Jenny Olrenshaw born 28 Nov 1797 baptised 7 Mar 1798 Gee Cross Unitarian, Hyde, Cheshire Thos Olerenshaw born 15 Nov 1799 baptised 2 Feb 1800 Mill Brow Independent, Marple Bridge, Derbyshire There are some others in Derbyshire and Cheshire in between those and Maria but not shown as non-conformist on FamilySearch: George Olerenshaw 7 Jul 1802 Mellor, Derbyshire William Olerenshaw 4 May 1804 Mellor, Derbyshire Mary Olerenshow born 9 May 1810 baptised 18 May 1810 Marple, Cheshire Robert Olerenshaw 14 Oct 1812 Marple, Cheshire. Also the birth of James Lusley Olerenshaw 5 Jan 1808, Mill Brow Independent, Marple Bridge, Derbyshire, father Robt, mother's name not shown on FamilySearch, but he fits in nicely between William and Mary. |

Possible on the 1841 census at Horse Pool, Mellor, Derbyshire - Robert Olerenshaw age 69, shoe maker, born in county, with an Isaac Bradbury age 10.

Thanks Kite,
Yes, the 1814 baptism is the one I am thinking is our Maria. Being non-conformist fits, I think. Most of the burials seem to have been "independent" in Manchester and my mum's maternal side was quite strongly non-conformist as well. I have been unable to find Maria's marriage to James Featherstone, but I have ordered her second one, to Henry Edwards - that was apparently at Manchester Cathedral in 1858. i will try and check out Isaac Bradbury, maybe he could lead to some clues as well. That might not be the right Robert on the census, though - we will have a better idea when you have his occupation from Maria's marriage cert or her baptism (you can pay to view the baptism entry on BMD Registers. If you do, make sure you choose "page image" and not "full details".)

I got some credits and had a look at the BMD Registers. The 1814 baptism does not give any idea of Robert's occupation.
I will have to wait for the marriage cert. Last edited by marquette; 05-10-12 at 05:48. |

Ha - I have now discovered this is not my MFMMMF - according to the images on ancestry for Manchester marriages, Maria Ollerenshaws father was James Ollerenshaw, a bookkeeper.
Starting over on the Ollerenshaws |
