Not sure whether anyone has posted this already, Julie, but Lancashire BMD has a birth registration 1856 Burnley sub-district, James Hirst, mother's maiden name Dodgeon.

The only child born in NZ Susannah died aged 16.
I have now found -
Samuel Luther Hirst married Mary Ann Gribble in 1874;
Mary Ann Hirst married John Nixon in 1881;
Henry Hirst married Ann Bailey in 1883; he died 4 July 1905 at his residence Burnley Terrace, Mt. Roskill road, Auckland.
He was a pioneer grape grower but they were table grapes as he was a Rechabite .. total abstainer ..
