There is a James Grimshaw born in Glasgow in 1856.
This is a good match for William's brother, who is aged 4 on the 1861 census.

Might be worth a look.

Lancs BMD has a birth for Margaret Grimshaw in 1845, sub-district Hindley, mother's maiden name Calland. Also an Elizabeth in 1847, James 1849, Elizabeth 1851, Cecily 1861 (already mentioned) and Peter 1865.

The parents' marriage is also on Lancs BMD - William Grimshaw / Ellen Calland, 1844 at All Saints, Wigan.

Lancashire Online Parish Clerks have a transcription of the 1844 marriage:
11 Mar 1844 All Saints Wigan, William Grimshaw age 21, collier, bachelor, of Scholes, married Ellen Calland, 21, spinster, of Ince. Her father William Calland, collier. Witnesses William Hilton and Margaret Bolton. No mention of his father.

Likely death registration on Lancs BMD for one of those children from post #25: Elizabeth 1849 age 1, sub-district Hindley.
