Default Canada research

I'm trying to unravel a DNA match and the person I'm looking at emigrated to Canada.

Are there any sites where I can see Canada data without a subscription?
I have Ancestry, but only for the UK.
I'd like to look at censuses and BMDs.

There are some BMD's on FamilySearch:

and some censuses are on Automated Genealogy:

Depending where in Canada they are this site might help:

British Columbia Royal Museum

It's free and had BMDs and images for somethings.

Thanks, Libby. I have found a tree which helps but I'll give you a shout if I need more information.

Elizabeth, have you seen Library and Archives Canada?
Censuses - Library and Archives Canada

You didn't say what province you might be interested in. There are old links for Ontario research in threads started by Tom and yourself. Do you want those?

Also, I've gathered that local genealogy societies can be the best help in Canada. I would start by finding the closest library and looking up their genealogy section.
