Lancs OPC also has a baptism at All Saints, Wigan, 3 Oct 1824, John Grimshaw, base son of Mary Grimshaw, born 18 Jul, abode Blackrod.

So there seem to have been two Mary Grimshaws of Blackrod having "illegitimate" children at the same time.

You could start by going through the Mary Grimshaw marriages from 1824 onwards on Lancs OPC looking at the ones in the right area and try to figure out whether any of them could be your Mary.

So, make a list of the marriages, then look to see what children came from those marriages and hopefully find the families in 1841/51 and see if any of the Marys look like the one you are after. Hopefully you should be able to eliminate some.

You said none of the marriages were around Blackrod, but you should thnk about where those babies were baptised too.
