1861 census help please
I'm trying to find George and Mary Oldham nee Vale on the 1861 census.
They might be in Wales as they had a child Amelia in Pontypool in 1857 and a son George in Merthyr Tydfil in 1860. 1851 they were in Leamington Priors, Warwickshire https://search.findmypast.co.uk/reco...1%2F0012147915 1871 in Burton on Trent, Staffordshire https://www.ancestry.co.uk/interacti...2903_2905-0218 Marriage was 27 June 1848 in Ashby de la Zouch, Leicestershire They certainly moved around a lot. Mary died 1879 in Burton and George in 1895 in Burton George was born in Newbold on Avon (Rugby) and Mary in Austrey both in Warwickshire

They should be in Merthyr Tydfil since there is also a son William born there Jan-Mar 1863 on the online GRO birth index - MMN is Veale, but it is Veal for George jr so I assume it's the same family.

I think this is them in 1861, but I can't view your 1851 census link so will just have to check they have the right children!

Yes, the children are correct. What was it transcribed as? I can't read it.
Thanks Kate

Have found that 1851 census entry on Ancestry now and yes, my 1861 link is them. The surname looks like Hauldom but Ancestry have transcribed it as Hanldom, so I will put in a correction to Hauldom. (Can't really put in a correction to Oldham since it doesn't say that on the image.)
