Default When you see a name in DNA matches

I am working my way through my DNA matches, looking at them all.

I think I have seen a James Riley Bryant in more than one tree.
One match, but only one, links also with Paulina Thurber.

Bryant is not an uncommon name amongst my matches. I could work through every Bryant match, but it won't be quick.

What is the best way to find out whether I am right?

Help!

I am assuming you have found the Paulina Thurber one but you're looking for the other one(s)? (Otherwise you would be searching for the name Thurber.)

Any chance that the other tree(s) have James Riley Bryant's birthplace, so you could search for surname Bryant and birthplace whatever?

Kite, I have one person with James Riley Bryant and Paulina Thurber, but no other Thurber, and that wasn't the one I was looking at to start with. (That would have been too easy!)

I think it must be in the North Carolina region, rather than the texan.

All I can say is that its probably the seventh generation on people's trees.

Well, you could search for surname Bryant and birthplace North Carolina, USA and work through the ones which come up, then try with birthplace Texas instead if you don't find it. Also some trees have the one who married Paulina Thurber down as born in Virginia, so you could try that too.

Two minds with but one thought! I am doing that, but not coming up with anything useful so far.

I suppose it could be like all the George Washingtons and Benjamin Franklins I have come across: forename of someone locally significant, so two James Riley Bryants may not be related.

Phoenix, you've tried Googling something like this?
("James Riley Bryant" AND "Paulina Thurber")

For instance:

The Thurbers:
Descendants of James Thurber
