Default Arthur Ansell Bullock-Webster

I am trying to sort out this man and his origins. He is believed to have gone to Australia/New Zealand in about 1881

He married Amelia Watson in 1883 in Tasmania as Arthur Berkeley Webber
https://search.findmypast.com/record...M%2F0000079526
Unfortunately the marriage entry does not give parents names.

On Papers Past I discovered that in 1885 he changed his name by deed poll to Bullock-Webster

In 1891 and 1901, 1911 as Arthur A or Ansell Bullock-Webster, he says he was b c1852 Westbury Bucks, and Westbury is in Brackley reg district.

I think that he must be the same person as Ansell Thomas Edward Webster b March q 1852 Brackley, mmn Price, baptised 1852 Westbury, parents Julia and Thomas.
Thomas and Julia nee Price married in France in 1849, which may be why I cannot find them in 1851, and I have them separately in 1861 and together in 1871, Julia, b c1826 Tenby and Thomas b c1823 Henden, but they are never with Ansell, and I cannot find him at all between his baptism and when he reappears in 1891 married to Amelia b New Zealand

When Amelia dies, there is mention of her brother in law rev George Russell Bullock-Webster and her sisters in law Evelyn and Helen Bullock-Webster, and they are all children of Julia and Thomas.

Can anyone find him before he left for New Zealand, or find any indication of his probable name change to Arthur Ansell Berkeley-Webber??

Lots of references in the English newspapers to George Bullock-Webster, who was Canon of Ely Cathedral.

Obit here, mentioning his mother and sisters:

George was at Cambridge university, as the obit says, under the surname of Bullock-Webster:

Thanks Mary,
I suspect that Ansell/Arthur may have left the UK under a bit of a cloud and hence the name change. When he died he left a pittance, whereas Amelia left an endowment for the clergy of Christchurch New Zealand, hence my trying to confirm a relationship with the more famous George!

I see from the censuses that George and his sisters were with Julia in 1861 (all with surname Webster and middle initial B), but no sign of Ansell.

I also see from a quick search of PapersPast that George (and presumably Ansell)'s father was Captain Thomas Bullock-Webster of the Bombay Native Infantry, and that Ansell was the cousin of Mr H Bullock-Webster of Auckland. Do you know anything about him?

Yes, it's odd that she left so much money, quite a bit of it to George.

Ansell's cousin Harry arrived in NZ in the 1870s, after living in Canada:

I'm guessing you've already seen this, as it mentions the marriage at the British embassy in Paris, but it's annoying that it doesn't mention Ansell:

I found that Amelia on a census with Thomas, but when you look at the actual return, she appears to be the daughter of the housekeeper, and I found a marriage for her with the housekeepers surname, and on a later census with that married name she was b USA, so I don't think she actually was a daughter. There was a family tree or two that had her as a daughter as well.

I did work out how Harry was related, but I have forgotten the details now!
