Can you tell us who his child was or who his children were that you know of, so we don't get the wrong person, please?

Maybe this one?

Matthew Danson born14 March, bap 20 March 1785 All Saints Wigan, eighth son of Roger Danson and Betty Walsh. Roger a carpenter of Scoles. Betty's parents James and Margaret Walsh. But you do need to link back to this.

There are a lot of Ancestry trees with Matthew Danson b 1773 (most don't have a place) and died:

DANSON, MATTHEW 68
GRO Reference: 1841 J Quarter in WIGAN Volume 21 Page 551

Burial:

Matthew Danson
abt 1773 6 Jun 1841 Wigan , All Saints

Marriage 16/06/1793 Billinge Lancashire England to Helen or Ellen Aspinall

Quite a few children. Most of the baptisms on Lancs OPC show mmn.

I guess he won't be on the 1841 census, then, since it was supposed to list people by where they spent the night of 6th June.

Okay, then, if he is the one who married Helen Aspinall in 1793, Lancashire OPC (Online Parish Clerks) website has transcribed the marriage record and says he was a weaver, so that's two questions answered.

Marriage: 16 Jun 1793 St Aidan, Billinge, Lancashire, England
Matthew Danson - Weaver
Helen Aspinall - (X), Spinster, this parish
Witness: James Dawber; Nancy Aspinall, (X)
Banns Read: 26 May 1793, 2nd: 2 Jun 1793, 3rd: 9 Jun 1793
Married by Banns by: R. Carr, Curate
Register: Marriages 1787 - 1799, Page 122, Entry 488
Source: Original register at Wigan Archives

We can rule that one out, OC, because there is a burial 4 Jul 1796 age 10.

Looking through Lancs OPC for children of the couple, it seems that most of the baptisms give the maternal grandparents' names (William and Elizabeth / Betty Aspinall), and confirm that Matthew was a weaver. Their first son is mistranscribed as Ranson, first name Thomas. The second son was named William, so it is quite likely (but of course not certain) that Matthew's father's name was Thomas. Also their first daughter was named Peggy and their second Betty, so maybe Matthew's mother was called Peggy / Margaret.

And there was at least one Thomas and Margaret Danson couple having children baptised at All Saints Wigan between 1753 and 1777. From 1757 onwards their abode is Scoles (or Scholes). Only problem is there is no Matthew listed.

BUT - there is a Matthew Danser, baptised 28 Aug 1774 All Saints Wigan, parents Thos and Margret, abode Scholes. So I expect that is him. Maybe we can find the actual images of the parish register online later.
