Default Week 14 - Charles Henry Hector Beams

Charles Beams was born on 9 Oct 1892 at Alverstoke in Hampshire. By 1911 he was the youngest of the surviving children of Joseph Beams and his wife, Hannah Maria, nee Crane.

Charles joined the Royal Field Artillery in 1907 aged 14. I have not been able to find him on the 1911 census, sop presume he was overseas.

On 11 Nov 1913 Charles married Violet Kathleen Short at Amesbury in Wiltshire. Charles and Violet had two sons born in 1914 and 1916.

Charles was killed at Aras, France on 19 April 1917. At the time of his death he was a Battery Sergeant Major with C Bty 79th Bde of the RFA. His body is buried at Faubourg D'Amiens Cemetery, Arras, France.
