One of the witnesses at her second marriage was a George Tolley. (The other one, George Bryan, is a witness at loads of marriages at that church.)

There is a Mary Batchelor death in Hemel Hempstead district Oct-Dec 1855 (too early for age at death to be on the GRO index) and another one Oct-Dec 1872 age 73. I can't see her in 1861 or 1871 though, so maybe the 1855 death is her.

Her first marriage is on hertsdirect.org and you can view it for £5 if you haven't already seen it.

If you've managed to get one legit witness why would you then use a "professional" one as well? I haven't managed to track down who George Tolley is!

Thanks for looking for the 61 and 71 census, I couldn't find her there either. She is listed as a widow in 51. I had wondered if she managed to fit another marriage. I think the 1855 death is the most likely. I'll have to save up for the cert!

I suppose the answer to this might be another question, Why did they marry in Chelsea when they appear to be Hertfordshire people?
