Last known alive December 1916 on birth of my Grand mother.

I've checked FreeBMD for his death. Nothing.

At the moment it's a case of trawling the indexes until Ancestry get them all listed like they have the births and marriages.

Have you thought about peoples wedding pics, was he on them?

Can you ask around the family to see who remembers him and then work out when he was still alive.
