Thomas and Jane Roe in 1891
Hi everyone,
Wondered if anyone could see this couple in 1891 please? I have looked but can't find them. Jane Calladine born c1856 in Melbourne, Derbyshire married Thomas Roe in the Derby registration district in 1888. Jane died on 2 January 1892 and is buried in Ashby De La Zouch cemetery. The only death I can see is registered in Belper (Derbyshire) but states her age is 35 whereas the grave says she was 36 (not unusual I know). I believe this is definately her death as also on the grave is her son who died aged 10 months, 9 months after his mother. His birth and death also come under Belper. So, I should be able to find them in 1891. I have no idea when Thomas was born, or where he was from. Jane's family had links to Ashby De La Zouch which is why she was buried there. Thanks for looking, Tom |

How about this couple at Lowes Hill, Ripley, Derbyshire?
George T Rowe Head M 27 Bricklayer Derbys Ripley Jenny Do Wife M 33 Do Melbourne. It looks as though the "w" of Rowe has been crossed out. |

In 1901 George T Roe's (no "w") wife is Mary born in Lincolnshire, so it does look possible.

And on Findmypast they have the Derbyshire local BMD index, which shows that both Jane and George Harold's deaths were in Ripley.
