Default Ada Quintrell (MMM)

Name - "official" name and what they were known as
Ada Quintrell, later Ada White after marriage

15 Mar 1866 37 Wish Street Southsea

John Quintrell and Fanny Ada (nee Wood)

1898 with two of her brothers! St Botolph Aldersgate London. Her father was non-conformist and I think sh would have been christened in Portsea - will check!

Herbert Edward White 13 January 1891 Portsea Hampshire

Worked as a milliner for W.E. White (drapers) of Guildford (High Street) She married Herbert Edward White, the son of the proprietor

1871 23 King Street Portsea Aged 5
1881 West Side (Ladies’ School) Chichester Sussex Aged 15 (By this time John Quintrell was Master of the Workhouse at Portsea and he was encouraged to send some of his children away to school and not keep them there as they charged him £10 p.a. to keep each child there!)
1880s She would probably have lived in Guildford High Street on the premises of W.E. White when she was a milliner.
1891 Windsor Street Chertsey with husband Herbert. She was recently married.
1901 24 Islington Park Islington with Herbert. My grandmother was at school in Chertsey. Herbert was ill and died in 1902.
1911 4 Dapdune Crescent Guildford. With her mother-in-law Elizabeth White and my grandmother, Muriel.

2nd December 1933 Highworth Nursing Home, Bramley Hambledon R.D. aged 67 years
Widow of Herbert Edward White a Draper


Date and place of burial / cremation.
Cremated. Ashes buried in the grave with "Dear Bert" in Highgate Cemetry. Her sister was buried with her too.

Her estate left to her only child my grandmother

I have it somewhere on a photo! I'll have to find it
