My mother's mother's mother

Emma Broad born 29 April, 1867, Talskiddy, Saint Columb Major, Cornwall

No baptism information yet.

At some point before her marriage 1890, Emma must have moved to Richmond, Surrey. Her sister Mary was housemaid at The Homestead, Marshgate, Sion Row, Richmond, Surrey in 1891, so it is
highly likely that she and Emma had both worked for the same household. Emma gives The Homestead, Marshgate as her address on her wedding cert.

Emma Smoothy, 37 years. Wife of John David Robert Smoothy, woodturner.
Cause of death: phthisis (pulmonary) 3 years. Certified by S.S. Burn, MB.
Informant: J.D.R. Smoothy, widoer of deceased, present at death, 5 Manor Grove, North Sheen. 1st June 1904.
[death was 9 days after her daughter's 11th birthday.

Burial:
Emma was buried in Richmond Cemetery, Section J grave no.1431 on Saturday 4th June, 1904. The gravestone reads "In loving memory of EMMA THE DEARLY LOVED WIFE OF JOHN SMOOTHY, DIED MAY 31ST 1904 AGED 37, GONE BUT EVER PRESENT".
