That's very useful, thanks.
The online database is here: http://www.genealogysa.org.au/resour...databases.html It doesn't give Arabella's parents' names, though. |

Oliver died in 1943 in SA, which doesn't have electoral rolls online. Haven't checked the other two yet.

Thanks for all the info, everyone. I had looked on the SA BMD website earlier but as Mary said, it doesn't give the names of Arabella's parents. The research service looks to cost at least $14 Aus and as I said, it's only a side branch so I wasn't planning to spend much money. Will pencil the family in with a note to say it still needs proof!

Typical of SA to be behind every other state. Glad none of my lot lived there !

I am on my iPad and have grandies all over the house.....when they go home, I will drag out my Mauch tree and see if anything pops up. Hubby is related to all the Mauchs in Quensland I think.

Had a look and hubby's book doesn't have any Elizabeth Mauch. They will be related though I am sure.

LDS centres may have SA BMD available. They do here in Australia. The advantage is that they give dates not just years for SA. OH's great grandparents eloped to SA and I got all the details without buying a cert.

Ive just found this thread. Francis Law was my mother's Father. They ran the postoffice in Tannymorel. Queensland. He was a very fine man. He was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal in WW1 for single handedly fighting off some 30 germans. (I have these medals). He struggled in later years due to shrapnel wounds. He changed his name from Barnett to Law. Mum never knew exactly why but suspected could have been to enlist.. Thanks for the info on Arabella we didn't know much about her and can now follow up.. Regards Jacqui Law-Smith
