BTW, he wasn't aged 3 as his birth was registered in Q1 1855. Some people have birth info: 13 Jan 1855 Stonehouse, Devon, but again, no source recorded.
I have checked my Indonesian discs, and there is no entry in the deaths for Simeon James Huband in 1855 in Sulawesi, or Celebes as it was then. Plus the ship would have had to have made a really big detour to get there!

I have an infant who died at sea en route to Fremantle WA, whose details appear both in the Deaths at Sea Register and on the Australian Deaths Index...there is a reg number which can presumably use to apply for a death certificate....but that was in 1886

I presume the Huband family is that on the 'Conrad' which arrived at Moreton Bay Nov 1855. Trove mentions there were 12 infant deaths during the passage although names and cause of deaths is not mentioned.

I looked to see if the route taken was mentioned but so far have been unable to discover it - only ports of departure and arrival.

Sorry, I meant to put 3 months as his age. That is from his headstone. Simeon’s younger brother William was born in 1857 in Australia and died at 17 days. The local cemetery has a headstone for William’s grave and Simeon is remembered on it as well. I am thinking three months is correct as his father would have made the headstone I’m presuming.

His birth was registered in Q1 so if he did die in October his age would have to be more than three months. The dates in my previous post would suggest 9 months, but I did wonder if the stone could say 8 months, but it now looks like 3 because of wear and tear? Do you know the dates of the sailing?

Oh, I see Macbev says the ship arrived in Nov. She sailed from Plymouth on 28 Jun.

Why does the passenger list have "Wednesday morning(?) 9 April" written in the corner of the first page?

I have them arriving on the Conrad in 1855. I also have Simeon born in March 1855, but no idea where I got that from and presume it was just added from the Q1. I don’t really need to get the birth cert as I have other certs I’d rather buy.
It was more the death certificate just to see why he died, but presume it was one of the infant illnesses prevalent at the time.

Sorry I'm no help. My death at sea was documented but not with a certificate. His wife took over his Govt job so it was talked about.

I have a birth cert from NSW of a child born at sea on the way over about the same time.
