Hi Julie,

Where does the info. re. Sarah's baptism come from? A Sarah ALDRIDGE marries Stephen SWAIN in Letchworth in 1814 & I think she is more likely to be the one baptised there in 1789. The 1851 shows her birthplace as Letchworth. Your Sarah's birthplace shows as Chesham. Letchworth is close to the Beds border but a long way from Bucks.

Many thanks Glen. I did not have a birthplace for Sarah and I looked on Free Reg and could not find a Sarah Aldridge in Bucks. I thought it a possibility that she was born in Hertfordshire. Thank you for eliminating the Sarah born in Letchworth. As yet I have only looked for Sarah in the Census on FreeCen and I did not find her. Is the Census where you found her birthplace as Chesham? In some family papers she is down as born 1794, but no other details (Dave Ware is now deceased who provided that birth year). That would make her around 18 when she married.

It says Chesham for her birthplace in 1851 and 1861.

Hi Julie,

I can't find her in '51 but in '61 she says Chesham. That's where her est. birth year is 1794. In 1841 it's 1791. Don't forget that list.

Thanks Merry, I knew I'd seen it. Should have sent in the correction first time - done it now.

Julie, did I give you the details of the children baptised at Amersham?

Not really, because I looked on FMP which had the correct spelling
