Default William Sidney Carter 1894-1973 [ex's grandfather]

birth 18 February 1894 at 86 Charles Steet, Stepney (Mile End Old Town reg district)
William Sidney, son of Charles Albert Carter and Caroline Sarah Carter, formerly Robins
father's occupation: wharf labourer. Registered by C.S. Carter, mother, 86 Charles Street, 02 Apr 1874

William Carter, birth 19 [sic].2.1894, of 100 Westmoreland Rd, admitted to Infant Dept of Boundary Lane School, Southwark. Left 06 Sep 1901. See note. Boundary Lane was just south west of Westmoreland Road.

Family moved to Manchester for a while, and lived in Prestwich. Charles and his sons ran the Pakenham Arms, Pakenham Street, St Pancras during WW1.

Later William and his wife Maud and daughter Edna lived above the Downham Arms, in Downham Road, De Beauvoir Town.

William worked as an air traffic controller when he was in Ruislip after the family moved there during WW2.

Death
08 Jun 1973, at 801A Victoria Road, South Ruislip, William Sidney Carter, of respiratory failrure, chronic bronchitis & emphysema and bronchial asthma.

Cremated at Breakspear Crematorium, Ruislip.
