I'd be interested in anything that might suggest why they relocated to

Suffolk. William appears to have returned to London some time after Mary

Ann's death in 1898, when it would seem they were both living in Brantham.

He must then have either returned to Suffolk or arranged to be interred with

his late wife.

To start at the end, his death was registered Oct-Dec 1918 in Samford district, which was the district for Brantham.

On 21 Apr 1867 four children of William and Mary Ann were baptised at the church of St Silas Penton Street, in the parish of St James Pentonville: William Adderson born 26 Dec 1859, Richard Adderson born 25 Apr 1862, Mary Ann born 17 Jun 1864, and Charles born 10 Mar 1867. Residence given as 5 Henry Place, father's occupation Ticket Collector.

Then Emma Jane was baptised 17 Apr 1870 at the same church, residence 11 Blomfield Street North, Dalston, date or birth 24 Mar 1870, father's occupation Ticket Collector North London Railway.

There are lots of entries for William Adderson Pearson in the London electoral registers, but of course they could be for him or for his son, so I'll leave those till later.

I can't find them in 1861 at the moment, but part of Islington is missing from the 1861 census.

And in 1891 they are at 207 Wick Road, not really surprising. Willam is a Railway Guard and they have three children at home: Emma 21, George 12 and James 8.

Thanks Kite - that brilliant! Intriguing, too. Purser is a name that keeps cropping up in

my Headland research, but in the Northants/Beds lines I've yet to make a connection to.

Gran Emma Jane Pearson b 1870 married William Hawke Headland & they too retired to

Suffolk.
