Married to William Nicol, fireman at Dollar bleachfield. Cause of death - heart disease. I hadn't noticed RCE written in the margin of this record when I first viewed it. The corrected entry states that Catherine apparently fainted because of the cold, fell into the burn and was unable to get out.
Name Catherine Ferguson or Nicol Age 52 years. Female Date 4 January 1877 Place In Dollar Burn in the parish of Dollar, Clackmannanshire [?????????] about 30 yards or thereby to the east of the house at Dollarfield occupied by William Nicol engineman residing there. Cause Collapse produced by cold. Deceased having apparently fainted and fallen in Dollar Burn and being unable to extricate herself. Buried Dollar church yard |
