Think I've found her marriage now. I won't post the groom's details in case he is still living but her name has been recorded as Joyce M Crowe on FreeBMD and the date Q3 1942 Worksop District.

If you then search the new surname with mmn Crome, you will find one child (a boy, b 1945) who is presumably the 'new stepson' you mentioned in an earlier post.

Of course Joyce said she was a widow in 1969, so her first husband should be dec'd…………..

I've just realised - look at the name of the first witness at the 1969 marriage

When James died in 1984 the death was registered by his brother, an electoral roll from a year or two earlier gave the names as shown on the marriage cert at an address in Bircotes, S Yorks. Given his reputation for the ladies I don't know if he was widowed by the time of his death or if she had packed her bags and left.
So, you don't actually know she is dec'd?

To save me having to go back and delete all refs from this thread, I'd better find a death reg!

I had thought from the quote above that you were saying Joyce and Jim/James were still together on the e-rolls a couple of years before he died in 1984, but that doesn't seem to be the case (on the face of it anyway!)

Looks like Joyce remarried using her birth name:

Don't know why Ernest A Bridgett is called Bill, but it's obviously the right Joyce.

Wow, well done all. Another part of my tree jammed on the boundaries of different counties and post codes. If I can clear the brain fog that's hit me recently then it will start to make sense

Merry

Sorry for dragging an old thread back to life

I'm curious where the eroll results are from (about 3 posts up).

Name: Joyce M Bridgett
Birth Date: 1921-1923
Residence Date: 2010
Address: 51 Westmorland House, Cumberland Close, Bircotes, DN11 8BY
Residence Place: Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England

The reason I ask is that when James Turner died in 1984 his address at death was 47 Westmoreland House, Bircotes. Previously (1969-1972) Joyce and James were in Harworth just a mile away. I know they must have split between 1972 & 1978 but can't be sure when. Still trying to pin down Jim post 1972.

That's from Ancestry.

There's now another, earlier, listing for her on Ancestry:

Name: MS Joyce M Bridgett
Birth Date: 1921-1923
Residence Date: 2003-2007
Address: 12 Cumberland House, Cumberland Close, Bircotes, DN11 8BX
Residence Place: Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England

This record set covers 2003-2010.
