An Albert John Davis, 22, married Jessie Dodd in Bradford in 1904.
He gives his father as William Henry Davis, deceased, and one of the witnesses was Sarah Ann's niece Ethel Culley. http://interactive.ancestry.co.uk/22...nSearchResults In 1911 he's living with wife Jessie and their children, and his sister Sarah. In 1901 his sister Sarah (mistranscribed by Ancestry as Sarah Duve) is living with her uncle and aunt Albert J and Betsey Culley and their daughter Ethel.
So maybe both parents had died by then? Or mother Sarah had died and William had vanished? |

Possible death for Sarah Ann:
Deaths Mar 1895 Davies Sarah Ann / 37 / N.Bierley / 9b 162 There's a matching burial at Holy Trinity, Low Moor, Bradford, but I can't read her address. Something like Oakend Lane. Last edited by Mary from Italy; 25-08-16 at 00:25. |

When Sarah jr married Sidney Butterfield in 1915 she also gave her father as William Henry Davis deceased, plush batter.
Her witnesses were William Culley and her brother Albert John Davis. |

Hi, yes Sarah died in 1895, family lore was that Sarah jnr was then shipped off to Canada/America & returned. I've since come to think this is just a tall tale as i have found no evidence to support it. I'm not sure if they knew for sure if William was actually dead or if he was just dead to them after he abandoned them??
