Default Who was Elizabeth Upton's mother?

This is the family in 1620: https://archive.org/details/visitati.../n311/mode/2up
Arthur, son of John married Gertrude daughter of Hugh Fortescue. His sons were John, living 1620, Henry, Hugh and Arthur and daughter Elizabeth. John signed the visitation.

I assume, since this was a contemporary family tree, that Gertrude WAS John’s mother, and that Anne and Gertrude junior were dead by 1620, since they are not named. It also seems likely that Arthur did not mention his daughters in 1617 because they were dead or married (and any husband had had their marriage portion) Elizabeth had married John Hele and probably had died giving birth to their son Arthur Hele as by 1620 John Hele was married again with another two small children.

According to parish records, Arthur Upton married Catheren Fortescue February 1584 in Weare Giffard, Devon

Okay so far?
Any bright ideas on disentangling Catherine from Gertrude? Was Elizabeth a full sister of John born 1590? Each time I look at the information, I get more confused.

None of the PCC wills have thrown anything up at me, but Devon wills were largely destroyed.

However the 1620 visitation shows that Richard Culme of Cannonleigh was the son of Hugh Culme of Molland. Richard's cousin Arthur provided the information on his behalf, but a later hand has note that Richard was the son of Mary, daughter of Hugh Fortescue of Filley, which must be the Upton/Culme link.

Buckland Filleigh's registers "only" go back to 1619.

There is a will of a Hugh Fortescue of Weare Giffard who died in 1600.https://www.ancestry.co.uk/imageview...96c&pId=923864 I suspect he is a son of "the" Hugh Fortescue of Buckland Filleigh as his daughter Marie appears to be unmarried (and he clearly has a financial arrangement tying up his daughter Rebecca in marriage to William Lee)
He looks as if he is the trustee mentioned in John Upton's will as he has a son John and a brother George. The unnecessarily convoluted style of the will suggest that it was drawn up by the same advisors that drew up John's will. So probably a brother in law.

I am pinning John Chichester's will here: https://www.ancestry.co.uk/imageview...b9f&pId=910219

He seems to have collected the wardships of young men so he can marry his daughters to land. One was Hugh Pollard, son of Lewis Pollard deceased. He also names Hugh Fortescue - hopefully Hugh of Buckland Filleigh.
