Default Daniel Jeffcoat 1835 and 1837 Chislehurst

My 3x-great-grandfather was called Daniel Jeffcoat. He was born at Upper Winchendon in Bucks, was there until at least July 1826, and then his last child was baptised at Holy Cross, Greenford, Middlesex in June 1828.

By 1841 he was at Islington. He was a farmer in Buckinghamshire, and also at Islington. He also was a Guano Merchant. He was bankrupt in 1843/44.

I was searching for him on Ancestry and came across a Daniel Jeffcoat at Scadbury Park Farm at Chislehurst, Kent. I'd like to know more about this to see if it is my Daniel or someone different, but I haven't had any luck so far.

Quite a coincidence, as we drive past this site every week as our daughter and her family live just one mile away!

Pigot's Directory of 1840 has Mr Daniel Jeffcott, Scadbury Park, in the "Nobility, Gentry and Clergy" section for Chiselhurst:

Thanks, Kate. As I suspected it must be a different Daniel.
It's odd that when I searched the 1840 result didn't show, but I note the different spelling of the surname.

My daughter has been looking at this again.

Repository London Borough of Bromley Archives
Level Item
Ref No 1080/1/1/3/1/1/43
Title Agreement for lease
Date 30 July 1832
Description Agreement for letting Scadbury Park Farm in the parishes of Chislehurst, Paul's Cray and Foots Cray, Kent between the Right Honourable John Robert Viscount Sydney and Daniel Jeffcoat of Hanwell, Middlesex, yeoman and John Hyde of Northolt near Southall, Middlesex. Sydney agrees to let the property to Jeffcoat and Hyde for 1 year at the annual rent of £207 8s and an additional £50 for every acre of meadow or pasture that is ploughed up.
Extent 3pp
Access Status Open

We think there is a possibility this is our ancestor after all.

In 1828 Daniel's youngest child was baptised at Greenford:

Name: Joseph Jeffcoat
Record Type: Baptism
Baptism Date: 10 Jun 1828
Father's Name: Daniel Jeffcoat
Mother's name: Anne Jeffcoat
Parish or Poor Law Union: Holy Cross, Greenford
Borough: Ealing
Register Type: Parish Registers

Hanwell is just 2 miles from Greenford.

He also appears on the 1835 and 1837 poll books in Chislehurst. By 1841 he is at Islington.

He might well have lived at Chislehurst for a few years. This is such a coincidence as our daughter lives there now. Scadbury Park is a nature reserve.

My daughter is going to pay a visit to Bromley Library to look at the document quoted above.
