Merry, you mentioned this a few pages ago and I found the image just now; what do the dates and public/private mean?

I'm assuming the dates on the right-hand side are when the baptisms took place, or are they just when the lists were published? Are the dates in the margin birthdays or something else?

The dates on the left are just the right hand dates of the previous page!

The dates on the right are the baptism dates. 'Private' means the baptism took place at home. 'Public' is when the child was received into the church after a private baptism.

So this seems to be new; can anyone read the cause of death for George Joseph Davis, please? It looks like chronic anemia, syncope (???)

The only matching death is 0 years old...

DAVIS, GEORGE JOSEPH 0 Order
GRO Reference: 1885 D Quarter in SAINT SAVIOUR SURREY Volume 01D

Oh nevermind, he's registered as Joseph George!

Yes, it says Ch Anaemia, Syncope. Age is 29 and date of death is 29 May 1885, which wouldn't match with being registered Oct-Dec. There is a Joseph George Davis death Apr-Jun 1885 age 29 St Saviour which I should think is him.
