Chances are one of my local librararies will have MI's for the area, if not Lancashire Records Office should have them. I will have a delve and report back.

You will have tried this I am sure, but google street search covers the area with a photo of Mellings Farm.

Oh, that's very kind of you indeed, Astoria, thanks very much for offering. Richard Etherington, Elizabeth's husband, died on the 19th April 1932 also at Catforth, so I would guess they are buried together and if there is an MI it might be listed under Richard Etherington. This is actually my partner (OH)'s tree, and he's always saying we should go up there and look round the graveyards but we never get round to it!

Richard's father Thomas Etherington was buried at St Anne's, Woodplumpton, in 1900, so I should think it quite likely that Richard and Elizabeth were buried there too, but there aren't so many 20th century burials and MI's online so I'm sorry to say I haven't really hunted much for their burials (or cremations).

If you do find time to go and look at the Woodplumpton MI's, could you please look for Matthew Etherington who was buried 26 Feb 1837, age 77, and Isabel Etherington who was buried 2 Mar 1818 age 56? Also Richard Etherington buried 3 Jan 1884 age 86 and Elizabeth Etherington buried 10 Jan 1860. Matthew's abode is given as Workhouse but Isabel's is Catforth and I think they may be the parents of the Richard who was buried 1884, but there doesn't seem to be a baptism for him. I'm just thinking that there's the slight possibility they might all be listed on the same MI!

I live approx 5 minutes away from Woodplumpton and Catforth is only a stones throw away. If you would like me to have a scout round the graveyards for you and take some pictures I will do so no problem!! Just let me know, I don't want to butt in on Astoria's challenge!! Sorry Astoria!
