Phyllis Crispwood marries Edward Filby in 1804 at St Mary, East Bedfont, Middlesex. https://www.ancestry.co.uk/discovery...e77bc445fd935a

They baptise 3 children that are definitely theirs Ann 1812, Sarah 1817, and John 1819.There are three other possibles, Maria 1807 and Elizabeth 1809 where the parents are named as Edward and Jane. And Robert Bourne b 1805 to Edward and Phyllis Bourne. All the baptisms are at St Mary, Bedfont.

There are trees that have accepted all these baptisms and Phyllis has become Phyllis Jane.

Phyllis is buried in Bedfont in 1840 and given a dob of 1777

However, Phyllis doesn't seem to exist before her marriage. Nor does any one else by the name of Crispwood. I have tried various wildcards to no avail.

Can anyone have any better luck? I know how great you all are!!

I've just checked John Fi;by's marriage record and the witnesses are Robert and Elizabeth Filby so it would seem that the "odd" baptisms are probably children of Edward and Phyllis.

No mention of Jane.

Sarah Pearce is a witness at Phyllis's wedding which fits with a public tree which has Phyllis's parents as John Pearce and Mary Wood, with Sarah Pearce being her sister, but of course I don't know whether that tree is right or not.

Well, o.k., there is a baptism of a Phillis Jane Pearce 15 Apr 1777 at St Mary Lambeth, parents John and Mary Ann:

Would fit everything nicely apart from the surname Crispwood!

She is a spinster on the marriage to Edward, but of course there could be a mistake somewhere.

I've looked for marriage for Sarah Pearce in the hope that Phyllis was a witness but no joy.

I wonder if "Crispwood" was where she lived? As in a farm or hamlet. Off to ask Google...

I wonder whether either Edward or Phyllis had a speech impediment, or if the vicar was deaf? As neither could write, the couple had no opportunity to correct the register, and Robert Bourne sounds like a misunderstanding.
