Girls I am so amazed .. tonight D was chuffed that I found simple things .. like his grandfather's obituary .. what he will say tomorrow .. tracking them through NZ and back in Lancashire through 2 more generations amazing ..
Yes I'm really pleased I am here Liza .. apart from Doug's illness the fact that she had a fall which took 6 weeks to find a broken in her arm and a further 6 weeks to find crushed discs in her back .. all the while telling them that things weren't right ... you'd think you were in a 3rd world country .. tonight was the first time for months that she hasn't been in pain .. I am so looking forward to telling them what you have found ..
Cheers. Julie

Ooh I have been having fun .. including finding an obit for Henry Hirst (which annoyingly says he married twice and that his widow survives him but doesn't name his wife). It also mentions his daughter who married Rev. J. Nixon but doesn't name the daughter. I found that the Rev name is John who married a daughter of Mr. Henry Hirst in 1881 .. grrh .. Found a park called Gribblehirst Park in Auckland named after James Gribble and his son in law Samuel Luther Hirst who inherited the estate from his father in law .. so I know he married a Miss Gribble .. siggh.

Passenger list of the William Watson, the ship that the Hirst family took to NZ in 1859, as mentioned in Elizabeth's link:

Julie, I have found two possible marriages:

1883/2062 Ann Bailey Henry Hirst

1904/1643 Elsie Russell Henry Hirst

Elizabeth died in 1877.
