Thanks. I'll see if I can find any birth or death records.

There is a Mary Fouche of St Geo Hanover Square buried at St Dunstan Stepney 24 Dec 1741.
The burial info looks as though it could be her, though it doesn't say whether she was married or not:

Well done, that has to be her because Bladen missed parliament on 16th December 1741 when she died. How terrible to have a funeral on Xmas Eve. Everything fits: dates, her age, location etc.

Family picture is out there on Ancestry site - but it was copied from a site with copyright restrictions so I don't want to advertise it.

It's a shame Mary did not survive because there'd be another Jory line of descent perhaps if she did.

FamilySearch has Mary's baptism:
Mary Foach christened 2 Feb 1718 Barking, Essex, father John Foach.
Also at Barking: Joseph Jory Fouch christened 24 Oct 1705, father John Pouch.

This suggested to me that there could be more with mistranscribed surnames so I trawled through all the Barking baptisms with father John in the right time frame, and came up with these two possibles:

John Kouch christened 15 Sep 1706
Jory Roach (male) christened 26 Jun 1710.

Jory must surely belong to the Foches! Although I would need to look at the actual parish registers to check. They should be available on the SEAX / Essex Ancestors website but it's a pay site and I'm waiting for more wills to be put online before I subscribe again.

But if they are Foches they must have died young, so maybe I can find their burials to prove it.

Hmm, well there is a burial at St Dunstan Stepney 24 Mar 1725: ____ son of ____ Fouche of _____. The churchwarden's book for that date doesn't seem to be available for more info.

Has anyone found out any more to add to this thread? I found a death announcement for Deborah Jarvis in The London Magazine for Feb 1774: "At her lodgings in Cheapside, Mrs Batt, a widow lady, aged 82, daughter of George Jarvis Esq of Wrinton Place, Somersetshire." I presume it means Wrington. I think the age must be wrong and would be more like 92 - otherwise she'd be only about 11 when she married Samuel Batt in 1703.

Turning to her cousin Deborah Hurt, I am beginning to think she may have been John Helden' sister. That would still fit with the other clues re relationships in the various wills.

I haven't been looking at that bit of my tree recently, sorry, Hew.
