Default Looking for a directory entry

Edward Newman was admitted to the Freedom of the City of London in 1846, saying that he carried on the business of contractor at 5 Sun Square, Sun Street, Bishopsgate - on the borders with Shoreditch, roughly where Liverpool Street station is now.

I hoped to find an entry for the Sun Square address in a Directory but so far haven't had any luck - can anyone find any reference to it? (Although he was in the Company of Loriners, he was actually a dust contractor so it was probably a yard of some sort)

This is Sun Street in 1845 (continued on next page) but I don't see Edward Newman or Sun Square:

In the trades section, "dust contractors" says "see rubbish carters", so I looked at rubbish carters but he wasn't listed.

And this is Sun Street in 1850 but I don't see him there either:

Not listed under Rubbish Carters either.

I don't think ancestry has any in between 1845 and 1850 but will check.

Okay, they have 1848 in a separate database. He isn't in the alphabetical section:
https://www.ancestry.co.uk/interacti...d=GB0109-00427

But they don't seem to have the complete directory including street listings.

Thanks for looking, Kite. At least I know I haven't missed anything obvious.

I'm pretty sure he's my man, even though the Freedom papers have a signature while he signed X on his marriage and Will.
