British Nationals Born Overseas
I may need to get a copy birth certificate for a British National born overseas. She’s coming up in the index on FMP, which is good, so I have two questions:
(1) If I PM the details, could someone give me the reference and (2) Do I order this from the GRO in the usual way? Thanks

2) Yes. Once you've selected, 'order a certificate/pdf' the next screen which begins 'Start Application' has 'For overseas events which were registered with the British authorities' about half way down.
1) Yes, I'll do that if you pm me!

A lot of the indexes can be viewed free on Family Relatives - click on Search, select Birth, Marriage, Death, then the "Free" tab to get to the list, or hopefully this link will take you to it:

My brother was born in Nigeria just after WWII. He had a wonderful birth certificate, for which the form dated from the 1920s. When I last saw it, many years ago, it was mostly Sellotape. Planning to get him a nice shiny replacement for his birthday, I tried to find his birth in the overseas indexes and drew a blank. Knowing my parents they didn't complete the registration process.
