George Landison
I have come across a marriage for a George Landison to an Elizabeth Smith
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:N6X2-DFK It is in ancestry, and find my past, but doesn't give any details other than the wedding took place 25th December 1873 at St Mary's, Lambeth, they were both single, his father was John Landison and hers was Joseph Smith. I am going round in circles trying to find out anything else about George Landison but have failed miserably! Can anyone find a birth for him or even the couple in 1881, please? |

This is the marriage record on ancestry:
https://www.ancestry.co.uk/interacti...&usePUBJs=true It's not very clear whether his surname is Landison or Sandison, but is indexed as Sandison on FreeBMD. And it does give more information - his occupation is French Polisher, his abode High Street, and his father's occupation is Clicker. |

So this must be the family in 1871 and their surname is Sandison:
https://www.ancestry.co.uk/interacti...nSearchResults 10 Tufton St, Westminster John Sandison Head Mar 54 Clicker St Martin in the Fields Mary A Do Wife Mar 52 Boot Binder Westminster St Margarets George Do Son Unm 26 French Polisher Do St Johns plus six other children (let me know if you need their details). |

George Sandison's birth was registered Oct-Dec 1845 Westminster, vol 1, p 407, MMN Andrews.
This is George and Elizabeth in 1881 but he has got his birthplace wrong: https://www.ancestry.co.uk/interacti...nSearchResults 3 St John's Terrace, St John the Evangelist, Westminster George Sandison Head Mar 36 French Polisher Surrey Lambeth Elizabeth Do Wife Mar 35 Oxfordshire Eynsham Arthur Sandison Son 4 Westminster St John Elizabeth Maule Lodger Unmar 25 Ironer Middlesex Westminster Annie Do Daur 3 Marylebone Mary A Do Sister Unmar 20 Tailoress St Pancras. I should think that Annie and Mary A are daughter and sister of Elizabeth Maule rather than of George Sandison. |

Thank you very much, Kite, that is very helpful. I should have thought of his name starting with an S instead of an L.
