Well, update re Hester Wright!! I was contacted by a person on Ancestry yesterday and to cut a long story short, her father who is in his 80s and a retired GP is the grandson of one of Richard Wright's sisters Annie Wright, He remembers that Hester was admitted to the Asylum because she was 'backword' - Wondering if she was possibly Downs Syndrome. He also remembers Richard (the murderer) after he was released from prison and says he was a very quiet and withdrawn man. So, mystery re Hester is solved.

I can imagine how excited you were - these bits of important history are few and far between. Thats what makes family history so intriguing.

Thanks everyone. I just wish I had known of her as she didn't die until the 1970s - I could have gone to visit her. Yes, thank goodness things have moved on since those days Babs.

FANTASTIC Stella ~ more family for you too (second cousin once removed ?)
Are you likely to find any other family 'skeletons' ?

Would a Downs Syndrome child have lived to such an age ?

Just found out too that Richard (the murderer), after his release from prison became a chimney-sweep. Not 100% sure Rachel if it actually was Downs Syndrome, but Hester was definitely 'backward' he says. As for more family skeletons - don't think I could stand the excitement Rachel!
