Of no help I know, but my grandmother was born and married from 65 West North St Aberdeen. Her grandmother was a Gerrie, the men were all carpenters and Berryhill Carpenters House rings a bell. But can I find my notes...

I have found an online tree of someone who is a strong DNA match with me and who is descended from Helen (possibly her great-granddaughter). She has faced the same problems as me but is confident in her research that we have the correct parents. I get the impression she still lives in the Aberdeen area and she probably has more first-hand knowledge than I do.

I still wish I knew why Helen gave her parents as George and Helen on her first marriage.
